Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom

About Us

Mission

Michigan Farm Bureau is home to the Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom program, as a part of the National Agriculture in the Classroom organization. Through sponsorship by the Michigan Foundation for Agriculture, Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom works to increase agricultural literacy; the understanding of the value of agriculture as it affects our daily lives. To work toward this goal, we provide agricultural lessons, children's books, and agricultural fact brochures for teachers and farmer volunteers to teach across elementary and high school levels. Agricultural lessons align with Next Generation Science Standards or Common Core Standards and incorporate Michigan and U.S. agricultural facts. These standard-aligned lessons use agriculture as the context for teaching science, social studies, language arts, nutrition and career exploration.
